The Beginning.....

It’s never an overnight process. It’s years of talking and dreaming and thinking. It’s sleepless nights as your mind races with thoughts of what could be. It’s anticipation and the thrill of possible success. It’s fear of failure, longs days, late nights and daunting workload. It’s proving to our children that chasing your dreams is just about the worthiest thing you can do.

We did it! (Well, my husband woke up one morning a few months ago, came downstairs for a cup of subpar coffee and announced “I did it! I just started a business that is going to make us put our money where our mouth is. It’s time to stop dreaming and start doing.” He is much, much more spontaneous than I am.) And so, we did it. Jumped right in with both feet not able to see where we were going to land. Scary? Yes. Made me nervous? Without a doubt. Invigorating? Absolutely! Lit that fire of purpose that had been just simmering under the surface? 100%!

We thought, Hey! We'll roast our own! Well, that, my friends, is a fine science. One we aspire to but, alas, not how we were meant to start. The biggest setback for a long time was trying to roast our own coffee with equipment that was in no way going to give us the results we desired. (Our small “roaster” also came with instructions on how to pop popcorn in it – no lie!) Once we came to terms with that, our wheels started turning and we set out on a new journey. To find a roaster that had the same vision and pride in the quality of product we were seeking. We found them. We share the same single origin (farm to roaster direct), organic, kosher mentality. They want to offer the best and so do we.

The goal as we grow will be to someday roast our own coffee with the proper equipment in a brick-and-mortar coffee shop that offers a laid-back place to gather, live music, fun events like Coffee and Cartoons (bring your kids, watch cartoons). The possibilities are endless, the wheels are turning, and we are just beginning!
